Susanne and Michelle: What's the story?

Earlier this week articles appeared in The Sun and The Mirror claiming there is a rift between Susanne Manning and Michelle McManus.
On Mon 24 Nov, The Mirror reported that the pair had a blazing row and weren't on speaking terms. Roxanne is quoted saying "Michelle and Susanne don't get on that well. It's difficult living in the house all together." Susanne is painted as the villain of the piece, according to 'an insider' "Susanne seems to have it in for Michelle at the moment and the pair just aren't getting on."
The Sun's Monday report, which also relies on information from 'an insider', claims that when the final 6 attended the premiere of 'Love Actually' (on Nov 16) Susanne refused to have her photo taken with Michelle; she is quoted as saying "I'm not standing next to that fat cow".
The Sun quoted Roxanne as saying "If you're all living together, it's obvious not everyone's going to get on. It's true Michelle and Susanne don't".
A different view emerged on Monday's This Morning program (ITV1). Nicki Chapman had this to say; "I was at Love Actually and they were chatting away...I think what Roxanne was saying is when you're in a house full of people, you're always going to have days that you don't want to talk to everybody. She didn't actually say there is an issue between them both. We have got different personalities but these guys actually do get on well...Roxanne didn't actually say they didn't like each other."
On Tuesday chatting to Lorraine Kelly on TV-AM Roxanne reiterated this; "We all get on really, really well. I honestly don't know where that comes from because we all do get on really well."
The Official Pop Idol Site was quick to run a story refuting the gossip. It reported that Susanne was 'devastated' by these stories and pointed out that "there are lots of rooms in the house, but Susanne and Michelle choose to share one".
We had to wait for Friday evening's Pop Idol Extra (Nov 28) to find out firsthand what Michelle and Susanne thought of it all. Kate Thornton asked them "do you really hate each other?"
Susanne answered with an emphatic 'no'.
"Did you ever call Michelle a nasty name with reference to her weight?" asked Kate.
"No...I've never said it to Michelle, I've never said to anyone about Michelle" exclaimed Susanne. She seemed horrified by the whole affair as she explained "...when I was at school I was like 'really overweight'. I was like a good size 18...So those names they said that I called Michelle are the ones that everyone used to call me when I was at school and anyone who knows me knows it would be the last, just the last thing I'd ever say".
Susanne added "the hard thing is when you don't know where it's come from you don't know how to stop it, it's like you can't say anything back".
Michelle said at first she felt "a bit paranoid" about Monday's stories even though she didn't think they would be true. Michelle sensibly confronted her paranoia head-on, "I just phoned Susanne straight away and we just sorted it out."
So there we are, on the face of it the girls are now happy bunnies. Maybe the girls aren't the closest of buddies but they certainly don't seem to hate one another!
Was there any truth to the stories at all? We may never know. The accounts of mysterious 'insiders' are rarely accountable, usually dodgy but great for selling tabloid and keeping the public talking about the show! Enough said.
