| Andy is originally from Bodelwyddan in North Wales. His celebrity connections are well known. His sister is Lisa Scott-Lee of Steps fame and his girlfriend is Michelle Heaton of Liberty X. Prior to Pop Idol Andy had some success along with his older brother Steve and younger borhter Anthony in the boy band 3SL (guess what SL stands for!), which was managed by Lisa. |
| Andy struggled a little in the early auditions, and confessed to being extremely nervous. As the rounds have progressed he has shown more confidence and the real Andy is shining through. |

| Last week Andy sang a difficult song and came through. This week with Michael Jackson's 1980 ballad 'She's Out Of My Life', he chose another tricky song and once again he got a result. |
| Foxy teased the audience, "Andy, vocally that was not good", they groaned, he continued "...it was excellent!", they cheered! |
| Nicki also praised him, "I think you pick some of the hardest songs to sing in this competition... but I think you did a really good job". |
| Pete told Andy he could have a career in A&R (how about Simon's job?) because he picks the best songs to sing. Pete added "Not only do you pick the best songs but you sing them the best!" |
| Simon agreed "...you did great. Well done!" |
| A happy Andy told Ant and Dec that he "loved it, absolutely loved it...it was a hard song, but I love that song and I enjoyed it." |
| 25.10.2003: It was a risky song this week for Andy, Daniel Bedingfield's "If you're not the one" stretches you vocally, but Andy was up to the task and sang it well. |
| The judges were all pretty postive. Foxy called him a "home-grown Latino" - Enrique watch out! Nicki acknowledged it was a difficult song but said "you managed to pull it off" adding that "your confidence comes through". |
| After the show Andy gave credit to the audience, "you come out and everyone just cheers and claps and it's a great feeling, so it just makes you think, you know, I'm just going to give it my best shot." |
| 11.10.2003: Andy's rendition of 'Careless Whisper' propelled him into the final 12. A modest chappie he seemed genuinely surprised when he won the heat. He has celebrity connections, his sister is Lisa Scott-Lee of Steps fame (Lisa also used to manage Andy's old band 3SL); his girlfriend is Michelle Heaton of Liberty X. This could mean he has a little more to prove than most, however his star is rising and he may well do just that! |
