Kirsty Crawford

Age: 19
From : Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire.
Star Sign: Saggitarius
Kirsty was eliminated from the competition in the first of the final shows (25.10.2003)
Originally from near Glasgow, Kirsty is brains, beauty and talent all in one package.
She had already earned a place at Birmingham University to study medicine before she applied for Pop Idol, which has been put on hold as a result of her success in the show. (Kirsty has had an offer to continue her studies confirmed for next year)
Kirsty definitely has a sexiness about her and a chirpy sense of humour. But when, after her exit from the competition, she joked with Kate Thornton saying she and Susanne Manning had "a kiss boobies thing", the tabloids were quick to sensationalise her words. Anybody who watched the ITV2 broadcast would have realised it was a joke! In the following week an embarassed Kirsty took every opportunity to put the record straight. Appearing with Leon on ITV's Des and Mel (Mon 27th Oct) she denounced the stories as 'ridiculous', but being Kirsty she could also see the funny side, "To be honest I nailed four papers in one morning!"
25.10.2003: Kirsty exits the competition. She was first to perform with Anastacia's "I'm Out Of Love". The judging started well enough. Foxy and Nicki were positive, "didn't disappoint" said Foxy with Nicki adding "I saw a different side to you tonight, good performance". Pete and Simon however thought she chose the wrong song. Pete said it was "a good job though", Simon said "not your best" but did add "you are very capable...tough job tonight".
After the results a tearful Kirsty had a sneaking feeling that being first up may not work in her favour. She told Kate Thornton "...to be honest I knew...it's the curse of the...no I'm not going to say incase anyone gets first up next time." Although visibly upset, Kirsty hasn't been put off by the experience, "I tried, I gave it my best, and I'm not going to give up".
20.09.2003: When Kirsty, sang Carol King's female anthem 'Natural Woman' she looked very natural and in control. The only thing that wasn't quite in control was her dress which kept threathening to reveal more about her than she cared for us to know! The British public had seen enough to know that she should go through to the final 12, she won the heat with 19.9% of the vote.
